This page says plainly how the books on this site are made, what we claim as ours, what we do not, and what happens if you believe something here infringes your rights. We would rather be straightforward about all of it than have you find out sideways.

1. Our books are written by AI

Every book on this site is written by artificial intelligence — Anthropic’s Claude and comparable large language models — under our editorial direction. That is true of the paid catalogue and of the free summaries alike. We choose the subject and the shape, direct the writing, edit and format the result, design the covers, and publish it. What we do not do is claim that a human novelist sat down and wrote the prose.

The names on our covers are imprint names we use for consistency across a series. They are not real people, and no living author is being represented as having written these books.

2. What we claim, and what we don’t

We claim the things that are genuinely ours: the site and its design, the covers and artwork, the myebooksbuy name and marks, and the selection, arrangement, editing and presentation of the collection as a whole.

We do not assert copyright over prose that a machine generated. In several jurisdictions — the United States most clearly — a work with no human author does not attract copyright at all, and we are not going to pretend otherwise in order to look stronger than we are. Buying a book still gives you the licence set out in the Terms of Service; it simply does not transfer a copyright we may never have held in the first place.

None of that is an invitation to help yourself. Bulk copying, scraping, republishing the collection as your own or training models on it is not on, and the compilation, covers and site are protected regardless. 3. The risk we are open about

Language models are trained on enormous amounts of text, and they can occasionally produce a passage that resembles something they were trained on more closely than anyone intended. We direct and edit the work to avoid that, but we cannot promise that every one of many thousands of pages is free of it, and we are not going to claim a level of checking we do not perform.

So the promise we make instead is about what happens next: if you tell us something of yours has ended up here, we take it seriously and we move quickly. We would far rather withdraw a title and look again than leave it up and argue about it.

4. The free summaries section

The free summaries are summaries of books that are in the public domain — their copyright has expired — sourced from Project Gutenberg. We do not host, sell or redistribute the full text of those books; every summary links back to the free original, which is where you should go to read the actual book.

The cover artwork in that section is generated programmatically from the book’s details rather than commissioned or scanned. Each summary records the model that wrote it.

5. If you think something here infringes your rights

Send the URL and a short explanation to support@myebooksbuy.com. We respond within 48–72 hours, and we remove or disable the material while we look at it rather than after. This applies to everything on the site, including paid titles.

If a paid title is withdrawn following a valid complaint, anyone who bought it can claim a free replacement title of their choice from the catalogue — see Refund & Cancellation.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Project Gutenberg. “Project Gutenberg” is a trademark of the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation, and we use the name only to identify where our public-domain source texts come from. Project Gutenberg’s own terms apply to its files, not to ours.
